We’re excited to announce that Edmonton Storm Rugby League is now officially part of the Straptor family! As a brand dedicated to supporting athletes and clubs with high-quality sports strapping tape, we’re thrilled to back a club that has grown into one of the biggest and most respected in Cairns.

A Club Built on Passion and Community

Founded in 2005, Edmonton Storm was created to provide a pathway for the ever-growing number of Edmonton Storm Juniors transitioning into senior rugby league. Since its inclusion in the Cairns and District Rugby League (CDRL) competition in 2006, the club has consistently fielded competitive teams and has cemented itself as an integral part of the league.

Unlike some older clubs in the CDRL, Edmonton Storm operates without financial backing from a league’s club. Instead, its success is built on the unwavering support of sponsors, volunteers, and the local community. This grassroots dedication has allowed Edmonton Storm to thrive, securing their own training and playing grounds at the corner of Peterson Road and Mt Peter Road.

Celebrating 20 Years of Edmonton Storm

With the 2025 season on the horizon, Edmonton Storm is gearing up to celebrate 20 years as an incorporated club! A milestone like this is a testament to the club’s resilience, passion, and the strong culture it has cultivated over the years.

Leading the charge for the A-Grade team this season is coach Frank Crathern, who has been a part of the Edmonton Storm family since his three sons first played with the junior club. Now, with all three playing in the senior league, Frank is bringing his wealth of experience and a dedicated team of coaching staff and volunteers to push Edmonton Storm to new heights in the 2025 competition.
